Hotel Hona
Project
Interior design · 17-room boutique hotel
Location
Bukhara, Uzbekistan
Date
January 2026
Hotel Hona, a 17-room boutique hotel in Bukhara, is designed around "Heritage Modernism": an approach that preserves the architectural soul of Bukhara while offering the comforts of a contemporary luxury retreat. Rather than replicating the past, the Silk Road aesthetic is broken down into three pillars: architectural weight, tactile storytelling and luminous atmosphere.
The method is material-first, with every surface acting as a cultural touchpoint: the weight of hand-carved walnut and terracotta clay plaster set against the refinement of brushed brass, silk-blend textiles and chased silver.
Four options were presented for the guest suites:
• The Silk Road Sanctuary — a reading of Bukhara's "Havli" houses in sun-baked terracotta, raw walnut and pomegranate velvet.
• The Gilded Caravanserai — "Bukhara Blue" Majolica tiles with burnished gold and spice-toned textures.
• The Scholar's Studio — a calm, intellectual space of leather, linear timber and calligraphy.
• The Imperial Artisan — a tribute to palace grandeur with carved Ganch plaster ceilings, carved doors and chased metalwork.
The project is at concept design stage.
